Friday 10 #4

All of the greenery is coming down, boy

Update: If you’re done here — or everything is already guessed — take a look at my brother’s blog where he’s got another set to guess.

The answers for last week’s game are up. Five people got nine answers, one short of a full set. The song that stumped everyone was once ubiquitous on the radio and MTV.

Blues Traveler’s “Run-around,” which answers the question “What would it sound like if Jimi Hendrix played harmonica?”

Anyone alive and exposed to MTV at the time probably has millions of neurons devoted entirely to John Popper’s solos, but the lyrics fly by fast. Above is the official video. The video I linked in the original set is a lengthy live jam that starts with a cover of War’s “Low Rider” and features Hammond B-3 virtuoso & Grateful Dead collaborator Merl Saunders.

My favorite video in that set is a stripped-down live performance of Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black.

Today’s lyrics are below! Try not to be distracted by the narrative you can almost see peeking through.

I’m going to be very forgiving on the artist for #1. Good luck!
