Friday 10: You See How Deep the Bullet Lies
Let’s Exchange the Experience
Last week’s answers are up! Six lyrics were identified, but no one seems to have figured out the theme. Not terribly surprising, since one of the songs in that theme remained unidentified: Islands in the Stream, the classic Dolly Parton / Kenny Rogers duet. Or, if you are up on your nostalgia television, the classic Sabrina Carpenter / Kermit the Frog / Miss Piggy … well, not precisely duet.
Yes, the mini-theme was “songs they played on the new Muppet Show episode.” Not included was the closing number by Queen — I realized I’d forgotten that one too late to do anything about it.
In retrospect, there’s another mini-theme: songs that I once liked that now give me the squick. That would be Island Girl, Gone Daddy Gone, Cherry Pie, and Once Bitten, Twice Shy. Island Girl definitely benefits from people not having easy access to the lyrics.
Enough! It’s time for this week’s lyrics. And which songs do you think haven’t aged well? Am I being unfair to some of these songs?
