Friday 10: The šļøing words are awfully strong
Some of these they play over and over and over on the radioā¦
Time to guess another ten lyrics!
Last week again we had three people guess six songs. The remaining lyrics were a couple of disco songs, a mid-70s hit that had a minor resurgence in the 90s thanks to a cover with more conventional instrumentation, and a Bob Dylan classic I mostly know through a Rage Against the Machine cover.
Itās such a shame when a good band like RATM gets all political. š
With the exception of Dylan, all the songs were from the 1970s. Kinda strange for songs that old to not be identified considering my regular crowd.
Big changes are coming to the pop charts thanks to changes in the music industry. Billboard is going to let songs age out, since some of the ones in the Hot 100 have been there for several years. Radio stations wonāt stop playing them and neither will streaming algorithms. Will this get us more variety? At least in the Hot 100 it will. Spotify? Probably not.
The rules:
- No searchin.ā
- I need both artist and title.
- Cover versions are acceptable assuming I can find them.
